WordSong is a Boston-based nonprofit musical organization presenting concerts of newly-commissioned art songs all set to the same text.  In concert and conversation, we connect musicians and listeners through a shared, active, and artistic experience.

Nicholas Vines, composer

Nicholas Vines, composer
The works of Nicholas Vines have been performed by such interpreters as Alarm Will Sound, BMOP, the BT Scottish Ensemble and the Australian Voices. He has received commissions from numerous sources such as Faber Music, ChamberMade Opera, Callithumpian Consort, Firebird Ensemble and the Sydney Symphony Orchestra. Recognition for his work includes Helpmann and Green Room Awards (2006, 2007), and a semi-finals position in the 2009 Opera Vista Competition. Since receiving a PhD in 2007 from Harvard University, Vines has taught theory and composition there and at MIT. He has run the composition program of NEC’s Summer Institute for Contemporary Performance Practice over the last four years, and this summer, was a Fellow in Composition at Tanglewood.
