Heather Gilligan
is Assistant Professor of Music at Keene State College in Keene, New Hampshire, where she teaches music theory, composition, and aural skills. She was recently named 2010 Composer of the Year by the New Hampshire Music Teachers Association, which featured the world premiere of her commissioned work, Winged Reflections, at its annual conference in October. Dr. Gilligan is also the accompanist and Composer-in-Residence for the Chamber Singers of Keene. Before moving to Keene, Gilligan spent 13 years in Boston, composing, teaching, playing, and earning her MM and DMA degrees in composition. She has written works for Boston-based musicians including Juventas! New Music Ensemble, Lorelei Ensemble, The Newton Symphony Orchestra, The Rivers School’s "Seminar On Contemporary Music For the Young," and The New Trio of Brookline as well as individual artists Sara Bielanski, Emily Culler, Lisa DeSiro, Jonah Kapraff, Ann Moss, Anastasia Nikolova, David Russell, and Philip Steudlin.
